Felicia Alvarado Elizondo
Felicia Alvarado Elizondo, Aka: Felicia Flames, Born in San Angelo, Texas on July 23, 1946. She came to California when she was 12 years old.and she is Mexican-American, She is a U.S. Navy Viet Nam Veteran. She has been involved with Gay and Lesbian Community since 1964. She was involved in the 1966 Gene Compton's Cafeteria Riot, She had surgery in 1974. She is a 100% transsexual woman. She has been HIV+ for 23 years. In 1987 she began being a Transsexual Drag Queen to raise money for AIDS. In 1987 she volunteered for the Aris Project in San Jose, Ca. to be an Emotional and Practical Volunteer to educate Gay and Lesbian about transgender persons. She has made 80 AIDS memorial quilts. She was involved in the documentary 1966 Gene Compton’s Riot “ Screaming Queens”, which won an Emmy. She was Awarded, AIDS Heroes Award by Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Testimony of Spirit Award by Shanti, California Senior Leader Award, given by California Wellness Foundation, Trailblazer award by Openhouse-sf. She has been a volunteer and fundraiser since 1987 for the LGBT Community, and Performs at Aunt Charlie’s Lounge with the HotBoxxxGirls from time to time. She think it is time for the young persons to take over.
