So how fabulous is Chaz Bono? Earlier this week, we found out that he had a book reading and signing for his memoir Transition: How I Became a Man scheduled for Friday at 7.30. Wait, isn't that during the march? Won't it split the community between two events? Disaster! So we contacted him and he was amazing! He said he specifically asked the signing be scheduled when there weren't any other big trans events, but the message didn't get to the right people or it got miscommunicated or who knows what and the signing got booked for Friday.

The After Party is at El Rio, NOT the Lex

The Bay Area Reporter did an article on the Trans March, but in their rush to get things to press, they got something wrong: the after party! The official after party for the march will be at El Rio NOT the Lex, as was reported. As has been the case for the past few years, it'll benefit the amazing folks at the TGI Justice Project.

A few people in Sacramento and Stockton posted things to the facebook event for the march asking if anyone was driving in who wanted to carpool. Since it's just a few days until the march, no time to do anything fancy, but a quick blog post is easy.

The 8th annual San Francisco Trans March Celebrates the 45th Anniversary of
the Compton's Cafeteria Riot: Serving Up Human Rights Since 1966

The San Francisco Trans March is proud to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Compton's Cafeteria Riot. Our theme for this year is in honor of the fierce activists who helped start up the modern LGBT rights movement: Serving Up Human Rights Since 1966. Felicia Flames, one of the "screaming queens" who participated in the riot, will deliver this year's keynote address. The Trans March will also be providing a trolley so that our elders and people with mobility difficulties can join the march itself.

Several members of the Steering Committee hit Fresh Meat on Friday night and were totally and thoroughly blown away by the astounding performances. If you went, you know what I'm talking about. If you didn't, do make it top priority for next year.

Everyone to a person was unbelievably talented and incredibly inspiring, so we walked out there totally psyched to do several things: learn to vogue, poach talent for next year's march, and bump up our game this year. The first two are still in the works--believe me, honey, we're ABSOLUTELY going to learn to vogue--but the last we decided to do something about.

We love surprises. The whole fun of the unexpected sneaking into your day and transforming the boring hum drum everyday into a sparkly fun rainbow filled wonderland. Surprises are great.

Except when they're not. Like when you're going to that hot new club only to find that it was shut down the night before b/c it got trampled by a herd of unicorns. Then surprises suck. Except for the fact that you'd then know a herd of unicorns visited your town. That would be awesome.

We got our flyers back from our graphic designer, the ridiculously super talented (and super cute, haaayyy), Querido Mundo. Don't you just loooove them?

A big shout you to all the people who attended our theme-naming pizza party last month and came up with such an amazingly powerful theme. Our theme and flyers wouldn't be nearly as great without your input. Y'all rock.
