2014 Safety Volunteers!

2014 Safety Volunteer RSVP

Come Celebrate With Us!
The San Francisco Trans March needs SAFETY Volunteers for 3 very important functions of our event.  A Safety training is provided and mandatory.
#1 Dolores Park Safety: Friday, June 27th 2014, 3pm – 6pm
Park Safety Volunteers will monitor the safety of our event space at Dolores Park by walking the event to support it as a sober space, and monitor that the crowd is respectful.  We are anticipating that we will need Safety support at the park because, due to the construction, many other park goers may want use of the park space that we are renting who are not aware of our event and of our intentions to support a safe and sober space.  You can work individually or in teams.
#2 Street March from Dolores Park to Turk & Taylor End of March Event: Friday June 27th 2014, 6pm – 9pm
This Safety Crew works under the direction of a Pride Safety Captain and supports the marchers by holding the line to its designated route, safety at intersections, and human chain formations that support EMS needs.
#3 Grand Marshal Parade Contingent: Sunday, June 29th 2014, 9am – 2pm
Trans March is being honored in the Parade as a Grand Marshal!!  Our contingent walks 1.5 miles from Beale and Market Street to 8th and Mission Street.  All participants must be comfortable walking this distance or meeting their mobility needs individually.  At this time we do not have a float which can transport people.
Beginning at 10am the contingent needs to be ready to advance to Market Street, however the parade is long and sometime we do not get moving until closer to 11am or 12pm, entering Market Street around 12:30pm, and reaching the end around 2pm. The time schedule is variable.  Please arrive at Contingent Location no later than 10:30am.

Our contingent starting location is TBA depending on our contingent number. We’ll know the week before and will announce it to those who RSVP. Contingents line up on multiple streets running between Howard to Mission to Market, and along either Spear, Main, or Beale. Once our contingent car is allowed to enter the grounds at 8:30am, we’ll know exactly where we are parked and where to have people meet up.
